I have taken some time to pull together pre-filtered links to help you find cheap cycling gear on Amazon (see links at the bottom of the blog). I’ve created links which will hopefully help you make savings on gloves to GPS units and tyres to tools. Whilst I’ve done my best to get you to the most important Cheap Cycling Gear sections of the site, you might need to make some further tweaks to suit your own preferences. For example to get better results, further refine the lists to suit your own personal needs.
My favourite additional filters are:
‘User Rating’. Put this to 4 or 5 stars to see products other buyers have rated highly.
- ‘Brand’. When you hit the brand buttons, it will bring another screen up with all the manufacturers in that category. This is really helpful to highlight products made by companies you have trust in.
- ‘Price’. Simple and easy to set if you have a budget.
- ‘Delivery Option’. If you are an Amazon Prime customer you can select the ‘Prime’ option and it will show you all the products that can be delivered for free.
- ‘Sort’. There are a few ways you can sort the results. We are all used to sorting by price, but why not try some of the other options to see if you notice any different bargains?
You can also change the categories yourself on the left hand side, whilst keeping the percentage saving. Say you were browsing within clothing, but decided you specifically wanted to look at gloves. Hit the gloves category as normal, and it will refine the results whilst keep the saving specified by the link. I have not put every single Amazon cycling section within this post, so if there is something you are looking for specifically then adapt the results accordingly.
Watch Out for the following:
- Be prepared for mistakes. A lot of the categories have wrong products listed in them. Just like being an in-store bargain hunter, sometimes you have to delve through the rubbish to find what you are looking for.
- Not all that glitters is gold. Sellers have various ways of making the price look more attractive than it really is:
- Incorrectly stating the price reduction. To get round this do the following:
- Complete a quick Google search to compare prices with other sites
- Use CamelCamelCamel.com to check the history of the product. (Video tutorial below)
- Hiding lower prices with higher deliver costs. Always double check the cost of delivery before purchase, or further refine the list to show products with lower delivery costs.
- Only reducing the product of one size or type. Sometimes you will find that the stated reduction is only on a particular variant of the product e.g. the red one could be £10 cheaper than the other 5 colours. Always double check the price before purchasing.
- Incorrectly stating the price reduction. To get round this do the following:
- Some of the higher reduction links have very little variety of products in them. It is a pay off between greater choice and lower saving vs less choice and higher saving.
