Do I need specific scuba diving travel insurance?

Here’s why you need scuba diving travel Insurance from Yellow Jersey.

Most travel insurance policies only cover scuba diving if it’s incidental to your trip—meaning it’s not the main reason you’re travelling. If you’re heading on a dedicated scuba diving holiday, standard policies (like free cover from your bank or cheap online comparison options) often won’t provide the protection you need.

That’s where Yellow Jersey’s specialist scuba diving travel insurance comes in. We provide tailored policies that cover depth, medical emergencies, lost equipment, and trip cancellations due to diving conditions. —so you can dive with confidence, knowing you’re fully protected.

Ask yourself two questions about your current travel insurance –

Have I checked if it covers me for risks associated with scuba diving?
e.g. decompression sickness?

Have I checked if it covers me if the primary purpose of travel is scuba diving?
e.g. a Red Sea scuba diving trip

scuba diving travel insurance

Our Scuba Diving Travel Insurance covers emergency medical expenses, repatriation, and trip cancellation on top of lots of other scuba specific features you cant get from a generic travel insurer.

In much the same way as you buy travel insurance for winter sports, we have made travel insurance for scuba diving simple and easy to understand. Buying travel insurance for scuba diving has always been needlessly complicated, so our aim is to make the coverage we offer when diving abroad absolutely clear.

Whether you’re diving every day or just adding it to a broader adventure, we’ve got you covered.

Scuba diving travel insurance vs  GENERIC TRAVEL insurance?

Most standard policies either exclude diving or come with serious limitations. Many only cover dives up to 10–30m, leaving advanced divers unprotected. Cave, wreck, and deep dives are often excluded. There is often no protection for decompression sickness or emergency evacuations. Diving gear can exceed standard baggage limits and finally No Cancellation for Diving Conditions – Standard policies rarely cover cancellations due to bad weather.

Yellow Jersey’s scuba diving travel insurance covers the things that matter most to divers.

Covering dives at all depths
Medical emergencies – Including decompression sickness & emergency evacuations.
Lost or damaged equipment.
Stay covered when weather or safety issues cancel your dives.

No matter where you are or what type of diving you enjoy, if you have Scuba Diving Travel Insurance with Yellow Jersey, you can relax and dive with complete confidence that you’re covered.

If you take several trips throughout the year, an annual policy may be better value.

Annual or Short Term

A Travel lots, pay less

By spreading the risk over 12 months, we can reduce the rates for you while still providing cover for every weekend trip or week-long golfing holiday you enjoy abroad.

Our annual policies can also include winter sports coverage, so purchasing annual travel insurance before your summer golf trip could save you the hassle of finding another insurer before your winter skiing trip.

B No commitment

For those who don’t travel so frequently or don’t want the commitment, we also offer short-term, single-trip policies. Whilst these are obviously more expensive pro-rata, they offer great flexibility and the same cover afforded to regular travellers.

Discounts

With discounts available for Families and Couples, there is no need to purchase separate annual travel insurance if you’re not all going to be golfing. If you travel with your partner, we offer them a 50% discount.

For a family policy with two adults, your first child will be added for half the price, and any more will be added for free. The same discount is available for single-parent families where you pay for one adult.

If you are organising a trip with your cycling club, our group discount allows parties of 5 – 10 people to travel on one policy with a 5% discount.

Since active people rarely confine themselves to a single discipline, our annual policies also include free winter sports cover.
